Flaget Memorial Hospital is a 52-bed facility located in Bardstown Kentucky. We provide care for patients from Nelson Hardin Marion Washington Spencer Bullitt and LaRue counties. Founded in 1951 by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth Flaget Memorial Hospital is nationally recognized for orthopedic care surgical care and inpatient satisfaction. We offer a complete array of services including cancer care heart care outpatient rehabilitation skilled nursing weight loss surgery pain management general surgery obstetrics and gynecology maternity care and sports medicine. Assists in the nursing care of obstetrical patients under the direction and supervision of an RN. Perform avariety of direct and indirect patient care duties for patients across the age continuum. Supports the conceptsof patient centered care. Assists physicians with vaginal deliveries. Functions as a member of the sterile teamduring cesarean sections. Functions within the Shared Governance organization.

ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES1. Assists and supports surgical procedures by setting up tables, instruments and supplies required forcesarean sections, vaginal deliveries and circumcisions. Maintains sterile technique while assisting indraping patient in operative area. Prepares, passes and maintains a correct count of instruments, sutures,sponges and supplies.2. Maintains appropriate stock and equipment inventories in the department and patient rooms includingmaintenance of surgical instruments per protocol.3. Responds to patient calls, anticipates patient needs, and assures patient safety and comfort throughregular rounds, environmental maintenance and other appropriate safety measures.4. Assumes responsibility for personal and professional growth through participation in unit meetings, in-service programs, continuing education, programs and fulfills yearly requirements as stated by policy. Assists in the orientation of new staff and participates in unit Quality Improvement activities.5. Records vital signs and intake and output when requested into the patient record and/or computer. Reports any changes observed in the condition or behavior of patients to RN.

6. Performs nursing procedures which do not require the skill/knowledge or judgment of a licensedprofessional and which may be safely delegated in accordance with nursing policies and procedures, i.e.;patient baths, bed making, application of ice bags and ambulating patients.7. Performs clerical duties including assembling charts and packets and entering charges.8. Obtains birth certificate information and enters into vital statistics the data base per unit needs.9. Assists with EVS duties including turning over rooms, OR cleaning, etc. as needed by the unit.10. Performs point of care testing.

Required Education and Experience:

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology programor completion of on the job training as a scrub tech withminimum of 5 years’ experience or Completion of anaccredited medical personnel program such as but notlimited to CNA, MA, LPN, EMT I / II, or SPD tech who arewilling to do on the job training with a structuredcompetency regimen.Required Licensure and Certifications BLS-CPR within 5 days
